AI Position and Teacher Empowerment

Checkpoint has been developing AI for the past three years in order to help teachers create quality-assured, fully resourced lessons through the Checkpoint lens. The AI Lesson Generator will produce material that is ready to teach and built on the principles of videogame cultural wealth. It is a natural extension of the Checkpoint Connected Curriculum.

Access to the Lesson Generator will be available once the 12 Checkpoint Connected Curriculum lessons have been delivered. This ensures that teachers understand the underlying concepts before creating their own material.

The system will allow a teacher to choose any topic or subject and generate a lesson that maps to curriculum requirements but is driven by Checkpoint’s pedagogy. Each lesson will include resources, visuals and teacher guidance. The design will remain consistent with Checkpoint’s educational framework so that every output is coherent and accessible.

The generator has been developed over three years in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University. It is built on principles of ethical AI, transparency and practical use in education. The focus is on veracity and integrity, not simplistic automation.

Lessons created through the generator can be delivered as is or adapted by the teacher to suit individual requirements. This flexibility helps every user teach confidently while learning Checkpoint’s pedagogy through practice.

Checkpoint’s approach to professional development is built into this process. Teachers grow as they teach, understanding how systems thinking and narrative structure combine to support learning. There are no detached CPD sessions or theory-only courses, just applied practice that improves skill through delivery.

Once ready, the AI Lesson Generator will be available through a subscription model at £350 per year for 10 lessons, with further scaling planned. A companion system for home education is also in development. This will give parents and carers access to the same framework, allowing them to generate lessons for home learning based on the same verified pedagogy.
